Banarasi Suits
Banaras, the eternal city by the sacred Ganga, is more than just a place—it is a living heritage. Its temples echo with chants, its ghats resonate with rituals, and its looms hum with stories centuries old. Among these stories lives a tradition that has withstood the test of time: the Banarasi weave.
At Bunkaari of Banaras, we are curators of that tradition. Every saree, dupatta, and suit we offer has been crafted by master artisans whose artistry flows through generations. Each weave is not just silk and zari, but the devotion of families who have turned fabric-making into a sacred artform.
Our pieces are for those who wish to carry with them not only beauty but also legacy—something to be cherished as heirloom, as memory, and as pride.

To choose a Banarasi is to choose continuity of culture, luxury for the present, and blessings for the generations to come.
The Banarasi Weaving Process
The making of a Banarasi saree or suit is an art that blends imagination, skill, and patience. It begins with the creation of motifs, first hand-drawn on graph paper and then translated into perforated punch cards—called naksha pattas—which guide the loom in weaving intricate patterns. Fine silk threads, polished and dyed in rich colors, are paired with shimmering gold and silver zari. Prepared as warp and weft, these threads are stretched carefully across handlooms or jacquard looms, waiting to be transformed into designs that have been part of Banaras’s heritage for centuries.
Weaving is a slow process—every lifted thread, every shuttle of the loom adds new life to the motif. Depending on complexity, a single saree can take anywhere from weeks to several months to complete. Once woven, the fabric is gently washed, meticulously mended, and polished to achieve the radiant sheen that gives Banarasi silk its timeless grandeur.
What finally emerges is not just fabric, but a story woven in silk and zari—a living heirloom that carries forward the devotion of generations of artisans and the soul of Banaras itself.
